Great two hour ride today in Valley Green. Ran into Glenn on the trail and had a partner to share the cold. This ride was just a warm up for Sundays 4 hour tour.

Foosball
Sat. night was spent with the Dillsburg crew at Courtney and Greg's house. It was nice to get out to see friends and spend time with Becki. One of the highlights of the evening was the foosball table. I have only played a handful of times in my life. It was great learning on the fly. Steve J you are the master of the foosball table!

Coming Together
The fitness that is. The rides are adding up to some good fitness for Jan. The past few days have seen alot of road time on the bike. Several commutes, a great ride with Steve H., and an eye opening solo effort. Steve and I did some path riding and some hill work on Joe's Loop. My solo effort was on the path. Typical path ride in that I was into the wind for the first half of the ride and then had a push from that same wind on the way home. 7 hours on the bike this weekend and temps in the high 40's and low 50's! The year of the bike continues!!!!

Super Frozen Fly
My weekend riding was spent in the trails of Valley Green/Wissahickon. The trail conditions were GREAT! On friday morning we had a couple of inches of snow an the temps dropped. The trails were frozen solid and the small amount of snow was compacted to a fast smooth surface. The superfly single was the bike of choice for both days. After riding the Rig in the poor conditions we have been having the superfly felt really light and fast! This bike amazes me everytime I ride it.

Clipless at 5
Because of his BMX racing Luke wanted to make the switch to clipless pedals. For the readers that don't know what this is, here we go. To keep it short and sweet you have a shoe with a cleat on the bottom that attaches to the pedal. This makes your pedal stroke more efficient and gives the rider more control of the bike. Luke was able to get the hang of getting in and out of the pedals on the trainer. Later, he moved to the outdoors. He has done a great job learning this new skill. I was 24 when I first used a clipless pedal!!! It is the year of the bike!

As winter break ends
I can say it was great. The family time was full of memories. The riding was very good. A mix of road and mountain riding made the legs get that "good" tired feeling. The last ride was on the Rig in the Wissahickon. Cold temps meant the trails were FAST! I also realized most, if not all of the pictures I post on this blog are of smooth, buff singletrack. I do this because I enjoy the roller coaster feel of smooth singletrack. The pictures also really look good. Knarly and tech riding are what east coast riding is all about. The section of trail in the picture is HARD but, rideable. Very hard on a single speed with 34x18.
